Ukulele Program
Sonoma County Children's Music offers the only comprehensive year round ukulele music program in the North Bay.  We use the "Ukulele in the Classroom" Method which has 3 curricula levels of theory based music lessons.  Students learn to play music ranging from classical to folk to world music.  Note reading and music theory are woven into each lesson, teaching skills that apply to all musical instruments.  Skills learned on the ukulele are easily transferable to the guitar or other fretted string instruments such as mandolin or banjo.

The ukulele is a contagious "singalong" instrument. Our students learn to sing and perform for family and friends.  Our goal as music educators is to make it the most natural thing in the world to sit down and play for and with others.  We encourage parents to learn along with their child and are happy to give parents "mini lessons" and tips for incorporating music making into their family.  We have recitals twice a year and occasional performance opportunities for intermediate and advanced students.

One unique thing about the Ukulele in the Classroom Method are the 2 and three part arrangements, some instrumental and some including vocals.  The  accompanying CD has beautiful arrangements of the course repertoire performed by James Hill, world renowned ukulele performer and co-author of the curricula.  For more information about the curricula and sample lessons you can visit the Ukulele in the Classroom web site.
We also have several videos on our Youtube channel that highlight the curricula, solo playing, and group ukulele.  The first 6 "favorite" videos are SCCM students playing in various venues.

SCCM offers the Ukulele In the Classroom method for group and private students age 6 and above.
